Mongolian Beef

9 hours in the slow cooker and this Mongolian Beef recipe was definitely worth the wait!

This Chinese inspired dish is absolutely full of flavour and even has a punchy kick ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ

Recipe

๐ŸŒŸ450g shin of beef
๐ŸŒŸ1 tsp @verylazyfooduk chopped garlic
๐ŸŒŸ1 tsp chilli flakes
๐ŸŒŸ2 large carrots, chopped
๐ŸŒŸ4 tbsp soy sauce
๐ŸŒŸ4 tbsp brown sugar
๐ŸŒŸ4 tbsp hoisin sauce ๐ŸŒŸ100ml water
๐ŸŒŸ1 beef stock cubes, crumbled
๐ŸŒŸ 2 tbsp flour to thicken

Method

1) In the slow cooker, mix together the garlic, chilli, soy sauce, sugar, hoisin sauce, water and stock.

2) Even lay the shin of beef within the sauce. Roughly chop the carrots and place on top.

3) Cook the beef on low for 9 hours until soft and it falls apart.

4) 30 mins before the end. Remove the beef and sprinkle in the flour, whisking thoroughly. Add the beef back into the sauce and continue cooking for the last 30 mins.

5) Enjoy your Mongolian beef served with sticky rice or noodles. Sprinkle over some hand chopped spring onions.
