Classic Cinnamon Swirl Recipe
If you’re like me and love a classic cinnamon swirl but too impatient to wait 2-3 hours from start to finish, then keep on reading ๐ฏ๏ธ Light, airy and fresh from the oven cinnamon swirls with a creamy cream cheese frosting, all made from scratch in under 1 hour ๐๐ Time it right and you could be sat down with a cuppa and warm, fresh from the oven swirl, simply oozing in a creamy topping. Yes! I’m getting all exciting again, just talking about this fantastic recipe ๐
Recipe:
For the dough –
๐ด350g plain flour
๐ด3 tbsp sugar
๐ด2 1/4 TSP dried yeast
๐ด120ml water
๐ด30g butter
For the filling –
๐ด50g butter
๐ด2tbsp cinnamon
๐ด50g sugar
For the frosting –
๐ด115g cream cheese
๐ด2tbsp milk ๐ด1tsp vanilla
๐ด250g icing sugar
Method:
1) Preheat the oven to 220c. In a small microwavable bowl, heat the milk, butter and water for 45 seconds until butter has melted
2) In a mixing bowl, mix together the yeast, sugar and flour. Stir in the butter mixture and mix to form a soft dough. Knead for 5 minutes.
3) Mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the filling.
4) Roll out the dough to an A4 rectangle. Spread evenly with butter and sprinkle over the sugary mix. Roll the dough tightly and cut into 9 even rolls. Place in a greased oven proof dish.
5) Turn the oven OFF and place the cinnamon swirls into the oven to rise for 20 minutes. Cover with tin foil.
6) After 20 minutes, remove the tin foil and turn on the oven again to 200c. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
7) Whisk all of the glaze ingredients together until silky smooth. Remove the swirls from the oven, allow to cool and cover in glaze.
